Trail Overpowers Pilots

Two interception returns and one fumble return for touchdowns helped Buckeye Trail to win 39-6 over the struggling River Pilots Oct. 24 at Buckeye Local High School.

Trail added a 30-yard TD run and a pair of two-yard TD runs to help them in the win, while the Pilots’ only score was a Joey Flannery six-yard touchdown pass to Drew Dietz.

The Pilots managed only 60 yards on 34 carries, with Flannery gaining 28 yards. In addition, Cole Isaly picked up 15 for River and Cody Saska gained 13. Wes Smith claimed four; yards and Aiden Taylor contributed two yards.

Flannery was 19-37 for 157-yards and a TD, with three INTs. He connected with Broc Cross for 54 yards. Isaly claimed 34 yards in the air, while Craig Hupp had 28 yards. Smith was good for 15 yards and Braden Whitsell ponied up 11 yards. Dietz went for six yards and a score.

The Pilots mustered 13 first downs, while Trail netted 19. Both teams were guilty of four penalties with Trail losing 35 yards and River, 25 yards.

The Pilots return to action Friday against the Frontier Cougars at 7 p.m. at Hannibal.
