Lady Eagles Win Two
Taylor Ludewig and Cierra Fowler each scored 13 service points to lead the Magnolia Lady Eagle spikers to a 25-23, 27-25 and 25-18 victory over the home-standing Weirton Madonna Blue Lady Dons in high school volleyball action Oct. 20.
Magnolia scored the final two points in the opening set to claim a hard-fought 25-23 victory and had to go into overtime to win 27-25. In the second set, Magnolia raced out to a large lead and coasted to a 25-18 verdict in the final set to win the match.
Ludewig added 10 digs and five kills, while Fowler stuffed the stat sheet with eight blocks and nine kills. In addition, Evan Estep served up nine points, while drilling eight kills and blocking nine Blue Don shots. Kelsi Chapman, followed with seven points and eight kills, while teammates Grace Berisford scored six points and bumped up 20 digs and Kristen Massey served up two points.
Fowler and Berisford each had double-doubles for the Magnolia Lady Blue Eagles in leading their team to straight set victories over the Cameron Lady Dragons Oct. 22 inside the MHS HammerDome.
Magnolia wasted little time in getting the upper hand against a much-improved Cameron team and soared to a 25-8 victory in the opening set. The Blue Eagle squad won the second and third sets by the identical 25-10 scores.
Fowler paced the Magnolia squad with 11 kills and six blocks, while Berisford and Evan Estep each scored 11 points. Berisford also had a game-high 19 digs, while Estep added an ace and a pair of kills. Fowler also chipped in with 10 points, including three service aces, while bumping up six digs.
In addition, Taylor Ludewig scored a game-high 12 points, while adding two assists, three kills and five digs. Kelsi Chapman tallied four points and five digs, while Bailey Estep tallied five points, including a service ace.
