MHS Girls Soccer Lose, 8-1

By Staff | Oct 8, 2014

After a month off without a match, the Lady Eagles Soccer Team hosted Weirton Madonna Oct. 2 and fell 8-1, with Anna Gibb sinking the only goal for Magnolia on her birthday.

Early on the Lady Eagle booters looked a little rusty, but played the first 10 minutes on their side of the field without any damage being done.

However, it quickly changed and the Blue Dons stated to pick Magnolia apart. And before you knew it, Madonna was up 6-0. Gibb would get Magnolia on the board in the second half on a nice move that caught the Blue Don keeper napping and tickled the twine from about 18 feet out.

However, Madonna answered with a pair to win the match. “I’m so proud of the girls,” said Magnolia Head Coach Nikki Doty after the game.

“Our girls didn’t quit and played as hard as they could. We were a little rusty from the time off, but ALL the girls worked hard and competed to the end.”

Magnolia will host Trinity Oct. 11 and then won’t play again till Nov. 2, when they again meet Madonna in Weirton.
