Cee-Bees Take Care Of ‘Jacks

The Clay-Battelle Cee-Bees jumped out to a 29-0 lead and held on for a 43-20 victory Oct. 3 in a battle of the unbeatens at Tom West Field in Pine Grove.

‘The Lumberjacks fumbled their opening handoff and Clay-Battelle answered with a 6-0 lead with a 10 yard TD pass for a quick 6-0 advantage in period one. The Cee-Bee defense forced the Lumberjacks to punt on their next possession, but the killer-Bees took it to the house for a quick 14-0 lead before the large crowd got seated.

Clay-Battelle flexed their muscles and scored twice from the air, on 10 yard and 24 yard TD pass plays that gave the visitors a 22-0 advantage after one period of play.

The Valley defense would hold Clay-Battelle to only one TD in the second and two more in the third and scoreless in the fourth, while their offense added three TD passes from Trey Streets to Tucker Cain. Their first came from 20 yards out in the second and a 59 and 74 yards in the fourth.

Both squads rushed for 145 yards, while the ‘Jacks air game accounted for 197 yards and the Cee-Bees 184 yards. Streets hooked up with Cain three times for 154 yards and three scores, while Peyton Palmer, Hayden Lancaster and Taylor Bates added the other 43 yards receiving.

Streets gained a team-high 70 yards rushing, while Palmer added 65 yards. Liam Midcap tacked on 12, while Matthew Throckmorton rambled for 10 yards.

The Lumberjacks moved the chains one more than the Cee-Bees with 12, while adding 10 more yards lost on four penalties by each team.

The Lumberjacks will try to rebound against Bellaire St. John Friday at home with kickoff scheduled at 7:30 p.m.
