Coon Hunt
The Pine Grove FFA Alumni will sponsor a Coon Hunt with sign-up and weigh- in on Oct. 25 at the Pine Grove Sportsman’s Club, located on the hill behind Simon’s Market and the Family Dollar Store, also known as Shanango. Registration is from 1-7 p.m., with the weigh-in deadline at 1 a.m.
The Entry fee is $20/person, with trophies going to the three top placers with a guaranteed $200, $100 and $50, respectively.
‘There will be a Dog Box and Frozen Pork Raffle along with a 50/50 drawing and table raffle. There also will be an Apple Butter Making Demonstration with pints for sale, along with food and beverages available.

The OVAC Cross Country Meet will be Oct. 4 at Meadowbrook High School, with the boys race beginning at 10 a.m. and the girls’ at 10:45 a.m.
Hundred Sportsmans Club To Host Free Youth Fishing Tournament
On Sept. 27, 2-6 p.m., the Hundred Sportsmen’s Club will host a free fishing tournament for children and youth. The club is located right outside the Hundred’s city limits. The event is free to all children ages two to 17. Fishing medals will be given to children as they register until they are gone. A concession stand will be available. First, second, and third place will be awarded to the largest catches in the three age groups. For more information, contact Buck Howell, president, at 304-889-3645.
MHS?To Recognize 1964 State Champs
Magnolia High School will be honoring the members of the 1964 State Championship Football Team and their coaches on Friday, Sept. 26 during the halftime of the Magnolia vs Wheeling Central game.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the victory and a public reception will follow the game in the Commons area of the high school. Everyone is invited to come and meet and greet team members and their coaches.
Also being recognized are the members of the New Martinsville youth football squads. They will be introduced following the 1964 team.
OVAC Seeking Contact Information
The OVAC is seeking information on Larry Datkuliak, Michael Stora and Joanne Susac from Powhatan; and Noel Lasure from Magnolia, who participated in the 1965 OVAC All Star game. The conference needs to notify them of the 50-year reunion next year. If anyone knows correct mailing addresses and/or phone numbers for these persons, please e-mail to tom@ovac.org.

The Paden City youth grasshopper sign ups will be held on Oct. 5 and Oct. 12 at the old Middle school in Paden City from 4-6 p.m. Cost will be $40 for first child and $35 for each additional child from same household. Tailgate Party
This is the fifth week into the high school football season, but this will be the first home ball game for the Paden City wildcat football team and the Paden City Christian Church at 105 E. Main Street will once again be sponsoring a tailgate party in the church parking lot from 4-6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26. Bring a lawn chair or just walk around and talk with the players and other wildcat fans. The first home game will be with River High Schools River Pilots. They would like to see the entire community come out and tailgate with them and support the Wildcats. All food and drinks are free.
