Eagles Do It Again! Win OVGL
The Magnolia Blue Eagles won their second straight Ohio Valley Golf League Championship at the Oglebay’s Par 71 Crispin Golf Course Wednesday, Sept. 17.
Magnolia’s Peyton Moore shot a one under par (69) to pace the Eagles, while earning the runner-up medal. As a team, Magnolia shot a 313, while the River Pilots came in second with 330 points. Other team scores were Buckeye Trail, 336; Martins Ferry, 337; Union Local, 344; St. Clairsville, 359; Shadyside, 371; Bishop Donahue, 381; St. John, 384; Barnesville, 451; and Bridgeport no score reported.
Besides Moore’s 70, Matthew Durig shot even par with a 71, while Derrick Blain scored an 83 and Shane Mason hit an 89. For the Pilots, Isaac Curtis led the way with a 72, while Brandon Smith shot an 81; Zac Smith, 87; and Blaze Amos knocked down a 90.
Moore shot a 37 on the front nine, while shooting a very nice 33 on the back nine.
The Eagles will hook up with Tyler Consolidated and Paden City Sept. 24 at Sistersville Country Club on Parents’ Nite at 4:15 p.m.. They will begin Regional playoffs at Williams Country Club Sept. 29 and hopefully move on to state championship competition Oct. 7-8.
