Eagle Golfers Claim OVAC Runnerup

The Magnolia Blue Eagle Golf Team placed second in the OVAC-3A championship on Oglebay’s Crispin course Sept. 11, posting a 319 behind Linsly’s winning score of 292. Peyton Moore, who shot a 75, was named to the All-OVAC Golf team. Magnolia’s other low scorers were Derrick Blain, 78; Matthew Durig, 79; and Shane Mason, 87.
The River Pilots turned in a 339, good enough to secure fourth, with Blaze Amos, 64; Isaac Curtis, 84; Zac Smith, 84 and Brandon Smith, 87 turning in low scores. Tyler Consolidated followed RHS with a 361. Low scorers for the Silver Knights were Nathan Kemp, 83; Ty Pratt, 86; John Lancaster, 95; and Kaleb Tanley, 97.
Moore was the medalist for the 12th time in 14 meets by shotting a 40 to lead the Blue Eagles golfers to a two shot victory over River, while soundly defeating St. Clairsville, Union Local and Bishop Donahue Sept. 15 at Belmont Hills to raise their season record to 52-6.
Mason and Durig each shot a 47, while Blain followed with a 48 for Magnolia. Isaac Curtis and Brandon Smith each shot a 44 for the Pilots, while Blaze Amos added a 47 and Mikayla Newman a 49.
The Eagles and the Pilots will now head to Oglebay to participate in the Ohio Valley Golf League Championship today.
