Golf Scramble Set For Sept. 6

A “Scramble for Charity” golf tournament will be held at Fairway Riverside Golf Course in Sardis Sept. 6, with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. The cost is $200 for a foursome or $50 for player. First place will receive $300; second place will receive $200, and third place will take home $100. Proceeds from this event will benefit new playground equipment at the Pine Grove Park. MHS?Meet The Team

The Magnolia Athletic Boosters will Meet the Team on Friday, Aug. 29. The annual ice cream social will start at 6 p.m. The MHS band will be performing a field show at 6:30 p.m. and the introductions of the fall teams will begin at 7 p.m. Come out and support the Blue Eagle fall sports teams.

West Virginia Hunter Education Class Offered

A West Virginia Hunter Education Course will be held at the Wetzel County 4-H Camp on Saturday Sept. 20 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and on Sunday Sept. 21 from 1-5 p.m. This class is open to anyone 10 years of age and older. Anyone wanting to take this class must register before Sept. 19. Proof of identification will be required. To register or for more information call 304-398-4240 after 6 p.m. Upon completion, students will receive certification good in all 50 states.

Labor Day Fun Run Detailed

The annual Paden City Labor Day Fun Run will be held on Monday this year. This 5K race will be ran throughout the town. Medals will be awarded to different age groups including: male, 10 and under, 11-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and over categories; and the same for female age division. There will also be trophies awarded to top overall male and top overall female. Trophies will be given to oldest male and oldest female and also a trophy for the participant who traveled the greatest distance. This event helps to support the track team at Paden City High School.

Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. on race day at Paden City High School, and the race will begin promptly at 8:30 am. The first 100 participants will receive complimentary water bottles. The registration fee for the race is $10. Those with questions regarding this event can contact Kim Huffman, head track coach, at 304-771-9002.

High School Football Games Starts Friday

River Pilots opens regular season on the road at Reedville Eastern; Paden City travels to Blacksville to take on Clay-Battelle; The Valley Lumberjacks are at home, taking on Bridgeport, Ohio; and Magnolia is open. All games start at 7:30 p.m.

Paden City Meet The Team Tonight

The Paden City High School will have its annual Meet The Team and Ice Cream Social tonight at Berger Field in Paden City starting at 6 p.m. All sport ticket sales are available for both high school and junior high athletic home events at the PCHS Office.
