Paden City Fares Well In First Meet

Paden City’s Kayla Hizer, (24:01.6) placed ninth for the Paden City Girls’ Cross Country Team that finished 11th of 22 schools in its first meet of the 2014-15 season.
Hizer’s ninth place finish was good enough to medal, while teammates Tori Anderson (26:52); Mallory Estel (29:03); Shelby Gatian (31:53); and Chelsea Dennis (36:17) also scored for the Lady Wildcats.
Tyler Consolidated didn’t have enough players to field a team, but freshman sensation Amanda Reynolds finished first in an individual time of 21:45.6.
Teammate Amber Watson placed in the top 10 with a seventh place finish at 23:45.1, while Megan Sole finished in 31:12 minutes.
Bridgeport High School won the overall team title with 79 points, while Shadyside and Oak Glen finished second and third, respectively.
Dean Frye (20:38) placed 35th overall for the Paden City boys’ team that helped it finish 14th out of 22 teams. Teammates Cade Crislip (21:55); Tyler Kiger (22:12); Hayden Hizer (23:28); Travis Leonard (25:46); Wesley Smith (25:58); and Marcus Allen (28:59) finished out the Wildcat boys’ scoring.
Bridgeport placed first, while Elkins and Ripley finished second and third, respectively, for the boys. Tyler Consolidated didn’t field a team. However, Luke Daughtery (21:04); Kamron Milhoan (23:07); and Josh Frum (25:35) did very well in their first meet.
Paige Leonard 024:38) was the only PC contestant in the middle school girls’ meet that saw 12 teams compete, with Ripley winning. Linsly and Doddridge earned second and third, respectively. The Tyler Consolidated Middle School kids finished sixth.
In the boys’ middle school division, Paden City’s Nathan Barker earned a top 20 medal with a time of 15:02 in the shorter-length race. Teammate Jake Amos finished the race with a time of 17:02.
The Silver Knights boys’ team placed third, while Ripley placed first and Doddridge County earned a second.
