OVAC Football Officials Training Class Starts July 22

The Ohio Valley Board of Football Officials is seeking new candidates to officiate high school football. The 2014 training class will be held at Generations in Wheeling starting on July 22 from 5-7:30 p.m. There will be a WVSSAC license fee and a OHSAA License fee. All attendees will be eligible to officiate at the lower level in the 2014 football season. For further information call Joe Koler at 304-242-7198.

OVAC?Volleyball Officials Needed

The Ohio Valley Volleyball Officials Board. located in the Wetzel, Tyler, and Pleasants counties, is holding a training class for new officials for the 2014-15 volleyball season. Prospective officials are required to complete 30 hours of training (20 hours in the classroom and 10 hours of court time).

In addition, the official must pass a written exam on the rules; pass a physician’s physical; and pay fees for registration with the WVSSAC and the board with whom they choose to register. Upon successful completion of the course, the official will be qualified to work the 2014 season.

The first class will meet on Tuesday, July 22 at Sistersville Elementary School (651 Terrace Circle, Sistersville, WV) from 6-9 p.m. A syllabus and course dates will be distributed at the first class meeting.

MHS Golf Team Practice Scheduled

The Magnolia High School Golf Team will be having its first practice at Fairways Riverside Golf Course in Sardis Aug. 5 at 10 a.m.

All players will need to have a physical and their school packet filled out before being allowed to participate.
