Three County Students Win 2014 Fitzsimmons Scholarships

Three Wetzel County seniors have been awarded a $1,000 Tad Fitzsimmons Memorial Scholarship for 2014. The awards were presented on Awards Day at their high schools.
This year’s recipients are Adam Croasmun from Paden City High School, Luke Martin from Valley High School, and Logan Massey from Magnolia High School.
Croasmun, the son of Brad and Marsha Croasmun of Paden City, was a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta, and was student body president.
He was active in Thespians and was on the West Virginia State Thespian Student Board and is a HOBY alumni. He has been in productions at the community theater and has been active in his church.
Adam maintained a 3.8 GPA while attending Paden City High School. He will attend West Liberty University this fall and pursue a degree in education.

While attending Valley High School, Luke Martin played football. He participated in the Quiz Bowl, Match Field Day, Pep Club and Chess Club. Luke also belonged to 4-H,.
While participating in his many activities, he maintained a 3.5 GPA. Luke is the son of George Martin and Tammy Martin of Jacksonburg.
He will attend West Virginia University this fall majoring in engineering.
Logan Massey, the son of Jeff and Renee Massey of New Martinsville, maintained a 4.00 GPA while attending Magnolia High School.
He was a member of Technology Student Association, National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta Science National Honor Society, and is a HOBY alumni. Logan played basketball and golf at Magnolia.

Logan has been involved in many community and church activities including Salvation Army bell ringing. He will attend West Virginia University this fall to major in computer science.
These scholarships are funded from proceeds of the previous Tad Fitzsimmons 5k Runs/Walks that were held for eight years in Tad’s honor and with the generous donations from businesses and friends.
