Abigayle Rice, granddaughter of Howard B. and Roxie J. Rice of Piney, recently placed ninth in discus at the Florida State High School Class-2A Finals with a throw of 103’00“. Abby started the long road to the FHSAA Finals by winning the 2A, District 3, Discus with a throw of 99’6” on April 9.

At the April 17 Region 1 finals, she placed second with a throw of 111’4″. A three-sport varsity letterman at Baker County High, Abby maintains a 3.90 GPA and also received the “Defensive Player of The Year” award as the starting forward of the Class 5A, District 3 runner-up Lady Wildcat Basketball Team. She is currently finishing her sophomore year while working on her volleyball skills at off-season conditioning.
