Wetzel/Tyler Relay For Life Putt-Putt Scramble Detailed
The Wetzel Chronicle and the Tyler Star News, in conjunction with the New Martinsville Parks Department, are holding a four-person Putt-Putt scramble May 31 at the new and improved Bruce Park 18-hole miniature golf course starting with registration at 9 a.m.
All proceeds will be divided between the Wetzel and Tyler County Relay For Life Associations. Registration fee is $25 for the four-person scramble, while singles and doubles will only cost $5 a player during the event.
Since the new miniature golf course is now handicap accessible, a special handicap division, as well as a ‘Chip Off The Ole Block Tournament, will be included during the scramble.
In the Chip Off The Ole Block chipping contest, players will have five chances to try to make three balls into a bucket to move into tournament play, where the winner and runner up will receive an award per age brackets. The cost of the chipping contest is only $1 per five balls. Players may play as many times as they want to qualify, with tournament play starting in the late afternoon.
All teams that register before noon will each get a luminary to put out at their local relay event. Prizes will be awarded per age division, as well as for singles and double high scores.
There will also be door prizes given out every 15-30 minutes, depending on the number of participants and door prizes, as well as many other awards. There will be refreshments as well as music, T-shirts, and other activities going on throughout the day.
