Wildcats Smack Four Homers In Win

By Staff | Apr 23, 2014

Five round-trippers left the yard in Pine Grove Monday during a battle between the Lumberjacks and the Wildcats. But, four of them came off Lumberjack pitching, as Paden City cruised to a convincing 16-1 rout over Valley April 21.

Isaac Hall blasted two out of the park for Paden City and teammates Luke Cooper and Zach Heasley lifted one homer apiece, while the ‘Jacks lone score came on a Colby Bucher home run.

The ‘Cats scored five runs after two outs in the opening stanza. After a Levi Meadows single, Heasley singled in Meadows and Cooper lifted one of his three doubles. Michael Wilcox would send Heasley home with a single and Hall would then belt his first home run over the left field fence to give the visitors a 5-0 lead after one-half inning of play.

The ‘Cats clawed out five more runs in the second frame, as Deven Price led off with a walk and stole second. Meadows would send Price home with an RBI single, while Hayden Hizer chased home Meadows with a base hit. Heasley singled in another run and Cooper cleared the bases with a blast over the left field scoreboad.

In the fourth, Bucher hoisted one over the scoreboard, too, for the ‘Jacks’ only run of the game. The ‘Cats finished off the hard-luck Valley squad in the fifth. Blaine Mitchell came off the bench with a single and scooted to third on two straight passed balls. Hizer walked and Heasley fired up a mammoth home run over the right field fence. After a Cooper double and a walk, Hall sent a Lumberjack fastball over the right field fence for his second round-tripper of the night to finish all the scoring.

Kyle Postlewait got the win from the rubber for Paden City. He struck out three and walked one, while the combination of Bucher, Pete Shaw, Peyton and Caleb Palmer took turns pitching for the ‘Jacks, with Bucher taking the loss.

Bucher singled and homered to lead the ‘Jacks, while Taylor Bates tacked on a pair of singles and Dusty Lowe reached on a single.

For the Wildcats, Hall had a double, two homers and brought home six teammates. Cooper doubled three times and belted a two-run home run, while Heasley plated five runs on a pair of singles and a home run.

In addition, Meadows singled twice and stole two bases, while Wilcox plated a run with a single. Price, Hizer, Mitchell, Andrew Dennis and Kennedy Cain each added singles for the Wildcats.

Paden City will travel to Wheeling to tangle with the Maroon Knights tonight at 6 p.m., while the Lumberjacks will host Beallsville at 5 p.m.
