Lady Eagles Split Two Games

Cassie Hibert smacked a two-RBI walk-off triple in the bottom of the fifth to help give Magnolia Head Coach Dillon Mangino his first win in a 10-2 mercy-rule shortened game against Paden City March 28 in New Martinsville.

The Lady ‘Cats scored two runs in the top of the first to draw first blood. However, the Lady Eagles tied it up in the bottom half.

Davianne Croasmun knocked in the first two Blue Eagle runs of the season with a base hit and Audrey Gibb singled, while Mallory Chapman got on base on a fielder’s choice.

Neither team scored in the second frame, but the Eagles tallied six runs in the bottom half of the sixth on a pair of Paden City fielding errors to break it open.

Croasmun and Abby Durig each plated a run on singles, while Stephanie Mullett knocked in a teammate with a double.

Neither team scored any runs in the fourth, but Hilbert’s walk-off triple ended the game to help Magnolia win its first game of the season.

Chapman picked up the win from the mound. She struck out seven and didn’t walk a batter. Her counterpart, Taylor Cosper, took the loss. She and Kayla Hizer each had RBI singles for the Lady Wildcats.

Croasmun singled and doubled, while plating three runs and Ashley Moore tripled and scored two teammates.

Mullett added an RBI double, Durig and Gibb singled and Hilbert stole a base.

No other stats were available from Paden City.

Cameron Dragons 0

The Eagles’ Mallory Chapman tossed a three-hitter and struck out 15 Cameron batters, while Abby Durig singled, doubled and knocked in three runs to beat the Lady Dragons 6-0 in the John Marshall tournament Saturday.

The Lady Eagles started the game scoring three runs on four hits and added a single run in the third and two more in the seventh.

Chapman added a double, while Mullett, Gibb and Croasmun each added singles for the Lady Blue Eagles.
