Paden City 64,

Beallsville 52

Fresh off their impressive victory over the Magnolia Blue Eagles, the Paden City Wildcats struggled a bit against the Blue Devils early on. But soon put on the jets and came away from Beallsville with a 64-52 victory Feb. 10.

The ‘Cats’ Kennedy Cain kept close to his 24 points-a-game average with a game-high 21 points, including a deep threeball and blocked two Blue Devil shots to lead Paden City. Meanwhile Blue Eagle killer Zach Heasley tickled the twine for 17 points that included three baskets from beyond the arc. Heasley also added seven rebounds and dished out five assists, while teammate Hayden Hizer contributed 13 points.

In addition, Luke Cooper grabbed a game-high nine boards, while plowing in nine points, including a bonus bomb. He also blocked a Blue Devil shot. Craig Allen and Devin Price each recorded a bucket to end all the Wildcat scoring.

Bishop Donahue 79, Paden City 50

Kennedy Cain dropped in 21 points, including two baskets from downtown, but it wasn’t enough for Paden City to get past Bishop Donahue in the OVAC Class1A semifinal inside Bishop Donahue High School Gymnasium Feb. 11.

Heasley followed with a nine spot, while Cooper settled for eight points. Allen contributed six markers, while Devin Price netted five points and Hizer a free throw in the 79-50 loss against the Bishops.
