New Martinsville Rotary Basketball Challenge Set For This Saturday

The fifth annual Rotary Basketball Challenge is set for Saturday, Jan. 25 at Magnolia High School. Five games will be played throughout the day when the Magnolia Lady Eagles will tip off the Classic against Bishop Donahue at noon.

The Tyler Consolidated boys will match up against Donahue at 2 p.m., followed by the Williamstown boys taking on Madonna at 4 p.m. The Paden City Wildcats will then take on the River Pilots at 6 p.m.,

In the final contest of the day, the homestanding Blue Eagles will go against the Wheeling Central Maroon Knights at approximately 8 p.m.

The New Martinsville Rotary Club will again sponsor the event that is co-chaired by Jim Blatt and Jeremy Blain of the Magnolia Roundballer organization.

“We are excited to kick-off the event with a girls’ game added to the challenge for the first time,” said Blain. “We look for it to be a great day of basketball.”

In addition, the Marshall County Dribble Team will provide the half time entertainment for the last two games. A hospitality area will be available on the balcony throughout the day for coaches, officials, administrators and Rotarians.

The gates open at 11 a.m. Ticket prices for the day will be students $5 and adults $8.
