By Staff | Jan 23, 2014

The Valley Lumberjiils’ Cassidy Price knocked down a basket with 45 seconds remaining to lift Valley to a 39-38 victory over Liberty Jan. 15 at Liberty High School.

Valley took an 11-6 lead after one period of play, but Liberty went on an 8-5 run to close the gap to 16-14 in favor of the Lumberjills.

However, Liberty pulled even at 27 heading into the final stanza before Price nailed the coffin shut with her deuce at the end.

Madison Arnolds led the way offensively with 10 points, while cleaning the glass with seven boards. Sarah Bassett netted seven points and pulled down seven rebounds, while Karissa Headley canned five markers and Price made four. Alisha Carter was held to a threeball, while Cassidy West and Melanie Thomas each recorded a deuce.

The win was the ‘Jills’ second in a row and their third victory this season.
