Lady Dragons Top ‘Jills
The Lumberjills’ Madison Arnolds scored a game-high 15 points, but it wasn’t enough to get past the Cameron Lady Dragons 44-37 in girls’ basketball action Dec. 27 at Cameron High School.
The Dragons took a 9-5 lead after one period of play. But the ‘Jills – behind Arnolds’ inside game – went on an 11-6 run of their own in the second stanza to take a 16-15 advantage at the break. The Lady Dragons tied it up after three periods and then outscored Valley 18-11 in the final period to claim the nod.
Alisha Carter, who connected from downtown twice, finished with eight points, while Karissa Headley and Erin Brown each tacked on six markers. Kaitlyn Brown and Sarah Bassett each knocked in a free throw for the ‘Jills.
Cameron was 14-22 at the charity stripe, while the ‘Jills converted only 7-12.
The ‘Jills return to action Jan. 2 at home against Paden City with tip-off set for 7 p.m.
