Hundred Hornets Still Searching For Victories
West Greene 67, Hundred 56
Hundred’s Holden Moore ripped the Hornets Nest cords for a career-high 29 points, including one bucket from beyond the arc, but it wasn’t quite enough to get past West Greene 67-56, Dec. 23. Moore also made six steals and passed out three assists.
The Hornets’ Greg Stewart contributed a double-double, 10 points and 10 rebounds. in his first action of the season, while Andrew King netted 10 markers and grabbed six boards. In addition, Ethan Umstead swished a pair of deuces, while Joe Mars laid one down and grabbed six rebounds. Derek Crihfield netted a charity toss.
“We played very well tonight,” said Hundred Head Coach Brian Bartlett. “However, we only made 11-26 from the free throw line and that would have made the difference. I’m still proud of my guys. They played their hearts out, but we just fell a little short.”
Clay-Battelle 65, Hundred 32
The Clay-Battelle Cee-Bees raced out to a 22-5 lead and never looked back in defeating the Hundred Hornets 65-32 in boys’ basketball action, Dec. 21 in Cameron.
Hunter Goddard paced the Hornets with nine points and made three steals. Moore tacked on seven markers, while Stewart contributed six points and cleaned the glass with seven rebounds. In addition, Crihfield and Danny Kolat each netted three points and King and Umstead each tacked on a deuce.
“Clay-Battelle has a very good ball club,” said Bartlett. “They do a lot of things very well. “We’re still adjusting to the game, but every game we get a little better and get more continuity.”
Cameron 94, Hundred 24
Cameron raced out to a 45-14 lead in the first half and never looked back in defeating Hundred 94-24 inside the Hornets Nest Dec. 27.
Holden Moore was the top scorer for the Hornets with 13 points and five rebounds, while Joe Mars, Logan Moore, Ethan Umstead, Greg and Danny Stewart each netted two points. Derek Crichfield swished a throw from the charity stripe.
Hundred returns to the hardwood Jan. 3 against rival Clay-Battelle inside the Hornets Nest with tip-off set for 7 p.m.
