Dreams And Prayers Do Come True

By Staff | Nov 27, 2013

Back when I was a youngster, I always dreamed of becoming an astronaut or a minister. But, as the years went by, it was clear that I wasn’t going to be either, so my dreams was changed to finding that special someone to share my dreams.

After I graduated high school, my dreams and prayers were answered the day I married my wife. I knew as well as my parents and family that Lynne was the one for me. They had wedding gifts set aside long before I popped the question to her.

We started a family and the dreams that I had for myself had quickly changed to our children and their dreams.

My eldest son sought the same as I – finding a wonderful woman to share his life and bless him with beautiful children to be raised in a Christian atmosphere. He succeeded.

My middle son, Chris, wanted the same as Greg and I, but will have to wait until late December, when his baby is due, to have his prayers answered.

Then there is my youngest, Jeremy. He, too, wanted a family. But, he wanted to start a different journey first. In theater. And he, also, has done that, with increasing intensity. After graduating from MHS and Fairmont State, he earned a master’s degree from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (RSAMD) in Scotland and has had several leading roles in plays in Europe since then.

The dreams of many MHS Football players and fans of making the WVSSAC playoffs have also has come true and another state championship is within their grasp. Perhaps the greatest inspiration to success there is, lies in the “Leave No Doubt” address former WVU Head Football Coach and MHS standout Bill Stewart gave to his Mountaineers.

We all need to dream and, of course, pray. But, remember that we must work at it and remember that others are doing the same thing. If the championship slips away from the Blue Eagles this year, they and their fans dust themselves off and look ahead to next year, when another state title awaits a new owner.

Good luck to Magnolia in the rest of the playoffs.
