Moore Places 14th In State Golf Tourn.

Magnolia freshman Peyton Moore finished in 14th place out of 40 players in the West Virginia Class-A Golf Championships held last week at Oglebay.

Moore sank a birdie on each day in the two-day event, fielding an 86 in the opening round and a 92 on the second day to shoot a respectable 178.He was only one of four freshman to make the state tournament out of 120 golfers in all thee classes.

In addition, Moore was a medalist eight times during the regular season and averaged a 38 score for all nine-hole matches he played. He also shot a 77 in the OVAC tournament and missed making All-OVAC by two strokes. He led the Blue Eagles to a first-place finish in the OVGL season, ending with a 71 with four birdies in the league’s tournament at the Moundsville Country Club.

In the regionals, Moore shot an 80 at the Williams Country Club in Weirton to earn top honors that helped move him to state.
