River Baseball And Softball Winning Games

The River Pilots pounded Bellaire St. John, pitching for 19-runs on their way to a 19-1 victory in Bellaire last Tuesday evening.

Cody Caldwell got the win from the hill, while Eric Dierkes paced the Pilots with three singles and two RBIs from the dish.

In addition, Craig Hupp brought home three teammates safely with a single and a double. Kameron Brown singled twice and Cody Isaly sent home two base runners on a pair of base hits. Cole Isaly and Kole Smith each doubled and plated three runs.

The River Lady Pilots exploded for 15 runs on 18 hits in whomping Buckeye Trail 15-6 April 29 at Buckeye Trail High School.

After falling behind 4-0 in the first inning, the Lady Pilots scored a run in the second frame and two more in the third. But, the Lady Warriors fought back to grab a 6-2 advantage by the end of three innings of play.

River would settle down and keep the Warriors off the board the rest of the way, while scoring at least two runs in each of the final four innings to gain the nod.

Monica Curtis struck out one and walked one to take the win on the hill for the Pilots. Haylee Bowers singled and touched them all on a long home run with three RBIs to pace the River Pilots.

Curtis, Gabby Gaudy, Rachael Hutchison, Mikayla Cieszeski and Madison Taylor each had two hits, while Mackenzie Marshall added a three-run double and Rosie Romick a book-rule double.

The Pilots’ Gabby Goudy and Monica Curtis combined to strike out seven Seminole batters and scatter seven hits, while Haylee Bowers powered the Big Red Machine with a pair of RBI doubles to lead River to a 3-2 victory over Monroe Central, May 2 in Sardis.

Goudy got the win, while Curtis came in to shut the door in the seventh to get the save. From the plate, Makenzie Marshall and Mikayla Cieszeski followed Bowers with a pair of singles.
