The Lady Wildcats’ Kelsey Loy twirled a 10-0 one-hit shut out against Parkersburg Catholic April 22 in Vienna. She sat down three from the mound and helped her own cause at the plate with an RBI single to pace Paden City in the victory.

Taylor Cosper was on the top of her game for the Ladies in green with a single, a double and three RBIs, while Myah Charkawi lined a single a double. In addition, Kayla Hizer brought home two teammates with a triple, while Victoria Anderson singled in a run.

The Lady Wildcats earned a shot in the OVAC Class-A tournament this week against the top ranked Bellaire St. John tonight at 5 p.m. at the 1-470 complex in Wheeling.

It only took three innings for Paden City to win its seventh game of the season, scoring 21 runs in the second and third frames, easily disposing of Tyler Consolidated 21-2 in the second game of a double-header sweep in girls softball action April 17 at Kidwell.

The Lady Silver Knights scored both their runs on one hit and two Paden City errors. However, that proved to be the only runs Tyler managed off the ‘Cats’ Kelsey Loy, who struck out three and walked two in the three-inning mercy-rule shortened game.

Loy got plenty of offensive support from her teammates, including her own three singles and a run batted in, while freshman teammate Taylor Cosper was 2-4 with a home run and two runners knocked in.

Others contributing at the plate included Tori Anderson and Myah Charkawi with three hits apiece. Anderson added a triple, with each Lady ‘Cat knocking in three base runners. Graeson Baker and Amber Neff each recorded a single and a double, while plating a pair of teammates.

In addition, Megan Pierce, Hannah Stanley and Mallory Estel each backed Loy at the plate with RBI singles, while Katie Shreves knocked in two with her base hit.

In the opener, Paden City was just as potent. They scored once in the first, four in the second, two in the third and one in the fourth before the Lady Knights stopped them cold turkey in the fifth frame. However, Paden City stacked the deck with a two spot in the sixth and the ‘Cats didn’t have to bat in the seventh to gain a 10-5 victory.

While the Wildcat bats were sizzling, so was the arm of Loy who scattered five-hits, struck out six Silver Knight batters, while walking three in picking up the win from the mound.

Anderson and Stanley went 4-4 at the plate that included a double and a RBI, while Charkawi knocked in a pair with two singles and a double to lead the Paden City 17-hit attack. Baker and Pierce both added two singles, with Pierce knocking one teammate home.

In addition, Cosper knocked in a run on a double and a single, while Neff plated two teammates with a base hit.
