Lady Pilots Win Four Of Five

The Lady Pilots scored seven runs in the sixth inning to break open a close game in a 9-2 victory over the Lady Wildcats at Paden City Park April 10.
Mackenzie Marshall had the big bat for the Lady Pilots with a pair of RBI doubles, while Madison Taylor belted a single and an RBI double. In addition, Rachael Hutchison tripled and Haylee Bowers doubled while Rosie Romick and Mikayla Cieszeski each drilled singles. Nikki Little had an RBI for the Lady Wildcats.
Kelsey Loy took the loss with three Ks and a walk. Gabby Goudy and Monica Curtis combined for 10 strike outs and no walks, with Curtis getting the win from the rubber.

River 13,
Tyler Consolidated 2
Lady Pilot Rachael Hutchinson’s walk-off home run highlighted a five-run fifth inning to get by Tyler Consolidated 13-2 in a mercy-rule shortened game April 9 in Sardis.
The Lady Silver Knights scored two runs in the first inning when Martina Parrish doubled in a run and Jasmine Moore singled Parrish in to take a 2-0 lead.
But River’s Gabby Goudy and Monica Curtis each walked and moved up a notch on a double steal. Haylee Bowers brought them both home with a single then herself stole second. After a ground out, Rachael Hutchinson reached on an error.
Mikayla Cieszeski singled to plate Bowers and Madison Taylor singled in Hutchinson. Taylor then stole second, Brooke Carman walked and stole second, while Taylor scampered to third. Gaudy walked for the second time in the inning to load the bases. But, a hard chopper to first ended the inning with the Lady Pilots on top, 5-2.
Curtis settled down and struck out six and walked one, while giving up one hit after the first frame. In the second, Rosie Romick added an inside-the-park home run for River, while Carman and Curtis each knocked in a run with a single in the third.
Hutchinson doubled in the fourth, but was left stranded. In the fifth, Curtis doubled, Marshall singled Curtis home and Bowers doubled in Marshall. Romick cracked a single to bring Bowers in and Hutchinson would clear the bases with a walk-off homer.
Lady Pilots 10,
Frontier 9
The Lady Pilots’ Rachael Hutchison knocked in the game-winner in an extra-innings slugfest with rival Frontier April 19, to win 10-9 in Sardis.
Monica Curtis and Gabby Goudy combined on a six-hitter, with Curtis going seven frames, striking out seven and walking four, while Gaudy picked up the win in relief.
Mackenzie Marshall belted a three-RBI home run, while Haylee Bowers blasted a double and triple to lead the Lady Pilots to their 11th win of the season against six losses.
Shenandoah 14,
River 13
Shenandoah scored its 14 run in its final at bat to beat River 14-13 in another slugfest in Zep Country April 20.
Goudy took the loss from the rubber. She struck out six and walked four. At the plate, Bowers drove in three runs on a single and a double, while Makayla Cieszeski and Madison Taylor each slapped a single and a double to pace the Lady Pilots.
In addition, Marshall belted a double, while Rosie Romick added a pair of RBI singles.
River 9,
Shenandoah 3
The Lady Pilots avoided a sweep in the second game of a double-header with Shenandoah with a 9-3 victory.
Curtis picked up the win from the mound. She limited the Zeps to three hits, while the Big Red Machine belted 11 hits in gaining the nod.
Cieszeski led the Pilot barrage with a pair of singles and a double, while Rosie Romick belted a single and a RBI double.
In addition, Marshall and Goudy each blasted as pair of RBI singles, while Bowers plated two teammates on a stand-up triple.
The Lady Pilots would have played Tyler Consolidated yesterday before press time. They will host Buckeye Trail Friday at 5 p.m. in Sardis, before heading to Trail, April 29, also at 5 p.m.
River finishes the regular season at home on April 26 against the Monroe Central Seminoles with a 5 p.m. start.
