Area Thinclads Compete In Invitationals

The PCHS Boys’ 4×200 meter relay team of Brandon Cross, Kennedy Cain, Zach Heasley and Drew Bidwell placed fifth in the Boggs Invitational Track Meet April 5 at Tyler Consolidated High School. The HHS Hornet 4×800 meter relay team and the shuttle team finished eighth, as did Holden Moore in the high jump. Overall, PCHS finished eighth and HHS ninth.
In the girls’ events, Lady Wildcats and the Lady Hornets placed 10th and 11th, respectively, overall. PCHS’s Kayla Hizer placed fifth in the 106 meter hurdles, while the Hornet 4×200 meter team of Lexi Cartwright, Lindsay Jones, Ashley Miller and Meliah Umstead placed sixth.
Winner of the boys’ division was Doddridge County with 126 points, while Ritchie County placed second with 95 points. Oak Glen nipped Williamstown by two points with 106 points for a first place finish.

In the 2013 Boys’ Tweedlie Invitational at John Marshall, MHS finished in fourth place with 83 points and VHS was right behind with 54 points.
Winner of the event was Parkersburg, with 136.33 points, while John Marshall placed second with 98 points. University finished third with 86 points, Brooke came in sixth with 34.33 points. In seventh and eighth places, respectively, were Weir with 30.33 points and Natronia Heights, Pa. with 29 points.
The Blue Eagles’ Stephen Rogalski won first in the 100, 200 and 400 meter dash, and was first in the 4×200 meter relay team with Kage Rohde, Alex Pancake and Jarrod Kacor.
Finishing first for VHS was Spencer Mason in the shot and discus, while teammate John Wells placed second in the high jump.
Rohde finished second in the 200 meter dash and the long jump for MHS, while teammate Kacor placed runnerup in the 300 meter hurdles.

In the girls’ contests, MHS and VHS placed sixth and seventh, respectively. Neither area school got a first place, but the 4×800 meter team of Lauren Cline, Bre Ritz, Christa Harshberger and Renee Smith finished second to Parkersburg.
MHS would finish fourth in the 100 and 200 meter dashes and in the 1,600 and 3,200 meter runs. VHS also placed fourth in the high jump and the pole vault, while finishing fifth in the shuttles.
The John Marshall girls finished first overall with 156 points, while Parkersburg finished second with 143 points.
