Lady Pilots Split DH

The River Lady Pilots split a double-hitter season opener with the Lady Bishops Donahue March 29, dropping game one 12-5, but rallying back to defeat visitors 10-0 in the second game at Sardis Elementary School field.

In game two, winning pitcher Monica Curtis struck out three batters and walked none in the one-hitter. She also hit a triple, a single, and plated two teammates in this, Donahue’s ninth game of the season.

Gabby Goudy singled twice, while Mackenzie Marshall added a single, two doubles, and brought home three. Haylee Bowers hit two singles and plated a runner, while freshman Rosie Romick RBIed one amid three singles.

Also scoring for the Lady Pilots were Rachael Hutchison and Madi Taylor, both with two singles. In addition, Taylor, also a freshman, brought home two base runners.

Goudy was the losing pitcher in game one, fanning four and walking as many. Curtis hit three singles and brought home two. Bowers and Romick cracked two singles, while Taylor contributed a double.

River hosts Shadyside at 5 p.m. today before going on the road for the rest of the week. Tomorrow, the Lady Pilots will visit Monroe Central for a 5 p.m. start, then move on to Beallsville for a double-hitter at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

River ends the week with a double-header at Fort Frye on Saturday at 3 p.m.
