NM?Eagles Place 2nd In Tournament

The seventh grade boys’ basketball team at New Martinsville School finished the season with a 9-3 record and a second place finish in the St. Clairsville Roundball Tournament to Steubenville, 28-43. All three of their losses came against Steubenville, two in the regular season and once in the championship tilt, while the Eagles beat Tyler, Short Line, River, Bellaire, and Woodsfield twice during the regular season.
In the opener of the St. Clairsville tournament, the Eagles disposed of Bridgeport, Ohio, 68-13. Brooks Parsons and Garret Babe paced the young Eagle squad with a dozen points apiece.
In the semifinal, New Martinsville locked horns with St. Clairsville and moved on to the championship tilt with a 47-36 victory. DeMarco Smith led the Eagles with a double-double, 16 points and 12 steals, while Moore netted a bakers dozen.
In addition, Parsons contributed eight points, 12 rebounds, and blocked eight Redskin shots.
In the championship tilt, the Eagles fell, 28-43. Parsons and Smith scored nine and eight points respectively to pace the Eagle offense.
