Milestone For Winters Celebrated
Magnolia Blue Eagle forward Mark Winters (#11) tallied a game-high 22 markers in the Region I, Section I Championship game against Wheeling Central inside John Marshall Fieldhouse March 1.
In doing so, Mark surpassed 2,000 points for his career. In the Regional Championship at Magnolia High School Gymnasium he also broke the school record of 2,024 held by Ted Talkington.
Mark finished his career with a 20-point performance in Magnolia’s opener against Wheeling Central in the state tournament, where the Blue Eagles lost.
With his final point total of 2,054, he becomes only the 20th high school ball player in West Virginia to score 2,000 points. He also ended the season as the top scorer in the state with 29 points per game. He also averaged 12 rebounds a game.
