Dave Johnson defeated John Leek Jr. 207-188 for his fifth victory in recent weeks of the Ohio Valley weekly bowling championship. He won $70, compliments of R. S. Wilson Bros. of Clarksburg, this week’s sponsor.

Johnson slipped by John Miller 196-191 in one semifinal, while Leek edged Sean Sawyers 217-210 in the other semi.

Leek also was also the two-game high qualifier, with games of 210, 206 and a 56 handicap for a 472 total.

Johnson leads in the Point List with 715 points, while Ron O’Neil Jr. (525); Leek (525) and Bill Pritsch (340) round out the top four. The top-24 bowlers on the list qualify for the 35th annual Ohio Valley Match Play Finale with the top eight each earning a first-round bye.

Tournament sponsors are Miller Lite, Capital Beverage, and Buddy Light Accounting. The Grand Finale, set for May, features a $1,000 top prize based on entries
