River Wins Three Tri Matches

River Pilots Chase Schultheis (120 lb.), Loren Thomas (138 lb.), Devin Talbott (152 lb.), Jordan Sapp (160 lb.), and Joseph Dotson (220 lb.) each recorded pins against Tyler Consolidated to help River win 60-15 to open the 2012-13 high school wrestling season Dec. 5 in Kidwell.

The Pilots’ Josh Stewart (126 lb.), Luke Gillies (132 lb.), Bailey Reusser (145 lb.), Kole Smith (170 lb.), and Brandon Reusser (182 lb..) each picked up points via Tyler forfeits, while picking up points on a double forfeit in the 113 weight class.

In the match of the night, the Pilots’ Dakota Dunn lost a close 3-2 match against Dustin Tawney in the 195 pound weight class.

The Pilots withstood three Seminole match victories to snatch a 51-14 team victory over Monroe Central Dec. 6 at Tyler Consolidated.

After a pair of double forfeits, the Pilots’ Schultheis scored River’s first of four pins of the night to get the party started.

Thomas pinned his opponent, before Bailey Reusser picked up points on a forfeit. Talbott won his match, 7-7, and Sapp tacked on points with a forfeit. Smith won his bout with a pin, before Brandon Reusser and Dakota Dunn each won their matches by forfeits. The Pilot final victory came from Dotson, who pinned his Seminole opponent in 1:33 of the first period. In the heavyweight bout, Hank Goble lost by a major decision, 12-4

Schultheis, Smith, Dunn, and Brandon Reusser each recorded pins, while Josh Stewart and Sapp each picked up wins with a 2-0 and 13-0 decision, respectively.

In addition, the Pilots received points on forfeits in the 220 and the 132 pound weight classes to give the Pilots a 43-29 victory over the Beallsville Blue Devils.
