‘Cats Place Second In Sectionals

The Paden City Lady ‘Cats took care of business in the Region I Section II semifinals Oct. 31, defeating host Clay-Battelle 25-12, 25-21, and 25-13, after losing one 18-25. The Lady ‘Cats defeated the same team for the Mason-Dixonchampionship, after dropping the OVAC title to Weirton Madonna.
The win positioned Paden City to face the newly-crowned OVAC Class-AAA champion Tyler Consolidated in the sectional championship – a match the Lady ‘Cats would like to forget. The Lady Silver Knights were all over it, from the service line to the net, with 19 aces and 17 blocks that helped defeat the Lady ‘Cats 25-4, 25-6, and 28-18.
Myah Charkawi was the lone double-digit scorer for the ‘Cats with 11 that included an ace, while Logan and Taylor Cosper each recorded four points. Logan made 16 assists on 61 sets, while Taylor made seven sets and three digs. Teammates, Lynnsie Parsons and Josie Fox each recorded three points and combined for nine digs, while Parsons made four kills.
In addition, Megan Pierce provided a team-high six kills, while Graeson Baker added three kills and seven digs.

In the earlier match with the Lady Cee-Bees, the Cosper sisters teamed for 55 points to power Paden City to a four-set victory.
Logan made 120 sets, with 55 assists, six digs, and two kills, while Taylor added 15 digs and made four service aces. At the net, Parsons blasted 32 kills and made seven digs, while Pierce, Baker, Charkawi, and Hayley Hizer teamed for 21 kills and 22 digs. Fox scored in double digits with 10, while making nine digs.
