The fourth annual Brandi Kay Bowen Scholarship 5K will be held at Glenville State University’s Cline Stansberry Stadium and Rails-to-Trails on Saturday, Nov. 10, at 10 a.m. All the profits from this race will be donated to the Brandi Kay Bowen Scholarship Fund.

Brandi Bowen was a 2007 graduate of Doddridge County High School, a standout athlete and a standout person. She was a student at Glenville State College and a member of the Cross Country and Track & Field teams when she lost her life in a tragic auto accident in February 2009.

Her parents established the Brandi Kay Bowen Scholarship Fund to help carry on Brandi’s legacy. The fund is managed by the Community Foundation of North Central West Virginia.

Last year, more than $2,700 was raised through participation in the 5K. Donations are needed to cover the cost of T-shirts, trophies and post-race refreshments. Any donations received beyond those needs go directly into the scholarship fund.
