Blue Devils Beat ‘Cats

The Paden City Wildcats couldn’t get their game on Oct. 20 and went down to a 48-6 defeat by the Beallsville Blue Devils, who scored all their points in the first half. They also held the ‘Cats scoreless, with the exception of the third period when sophomore Brandon Cross ran 88 yards for a touchdown.

The Wildcats rushed 39 times for 164 yards and 23 passing yards for a total of 187 yards. Beallsville gained 161 rushing yards on 31 carries and had 205 passing yards for a total of 366 yards. Offensively, Cross carried the ball 13 times for 107 yards, and Kane Pyle had 12 rushes for 57 yards.

Sophomore quarterback Zach Heasley completed one of eight passes in the contest for 23 yards and was intercepted twice. Senior Drew Bidwell had the only receiving stats for the ‘Cats with one catch of 23 yards.

Defensively, freshman Logan Carroll led the team with 10 tackles, one for a loss. He also recovered one fumble. Pyles was credited with eight tackles and one fumble recovery, while Bidwell caused a fumble and made six tackles, one for a loss of real estate.

Paden City will travel to Valley on Friday for a 7:30 p.m. start.
