Cougars Claw Lumberjacks, 40-7

The Frontier Cougars raced out to a 34-0 halftime lead and never looked back in beating Valley 40-7 in New Matamoras Oct. 12.

Liam Midcap capped off a long Lumberjack drive with a 17-yard run in the fourth period and Peyton Palmer kicked the PAT.

Eight different Valley runningbacks earned positive yardage. Spencer Mason led all Lumberjack rushers with 86 yards, while Midcap added 35 yards and scored their lone TD. Trey Smith and Donald Smith each netted 14 yards on the turf, while Tristen Kocher, T. C. Long, Taylor Bates, and Colton Ring each gained positive yardage for Valley.

Defensively, Wesley Dulaney led the ‘Jacks with nine stops, while Long and Palmer each dropped five Cougar ball carriers. The Lumberjacks will host the Doddridge Bulldogs Friday, Oct. 19, with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
