‘Jacks Fall Short Again

The Toronto Red Knights scored 21 second-half points to beat the Valley Lumberjacks 28-14 Sept. 21 in Toronto.

Trey Street tallied the game’s first touchdown on a 24-yard TD run, with Peyton Palmer adding the PAT kick. The Knights came back and converted on a three-yard run to pull to within one point after missing its extra point kick.

Spencer Mason ended the ‘Jacks scoring with a one-yard TD to give the visitors a 14-6 lead heading into the locker room.

Toronto punched it in three more times in the second half to secure the come-from-behind win.

Mason gained 96 yards and a TD on 23 totes, while Street netted 71-yards and a touchdown to pace the Lumberjacks. Liam Midcap added 15 yards on his only carry, while Collin Bates and Tristen Kocher added 15 yards and five yards, respectively. Kocher had two interceptions, but connected on only 1-8 passes for 14 yards.

Defensively, T. C. Long made nine tackles to lead the ‘Jacks, while Hubbard and Palmer each recorded eight stops. Hubbard also had a fumble recovery.

Valley moved the chains 15 times to 17 for Toronto and committed only four infractions for 16 lost yards, while the Knights were found guilty 11 times for 102 lost yards.

Valley will host Clay-Battelle Friday at Tom West Field in Pine Grove, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
