Valley High School will be holding their Homecoming Parade on Oct. 4. Line up will be at the Church of Christ in Pine Grove beginning at 5:15 p.m. The parade will start at 6 p.m. on a route from the Church of Christ to the high school. Anyone who would like to participate in the parade (EMS, VFD, local businesses, etc.) should arrive between 5:15-5:45 p.m. to begin lining up. The Homecoming game will take place the following evening, Oct. 5, at Tom West field. The homecoming court will begin walking across the field at 6:30 p.m. and the 2012 Homecoming Queen will be crowned. For questions or more information, call the high school at 304-889-3151.

The OVAC is seeking information about the following football players from area schools who played in the 1961 and 1962 Rudy Mumley OVAC All-Star Football games. Those athletes will be honored at next year’s game.

Magnolia: Chester Michael, William Stuart, Chuck Grandstaff and Coach Bob Sullivan; Powhattan: Raymond Rataiczak; Paden City: Reggie Cooper; Hundred: Don Rice.

A West Virginia Hunter Education Course will be held on Sept. 29-30, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday and from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday. Pre-registration is required. The class will take place in the Mollohan Center on the Wetzel County 4-H camp grounds. Each student must bring proof of identification.

Included in the training will be basic gun safety, information about the different types of firearms and ammunition, archery, wildlife management, shooting, personal safety and survival, game care, and hunter responsibility.
