Pilots Drop Three Matches
The Frontier Lady Cougars knocked off the River Pilots in three sets, 25-16, 25-17, and 25-18 on Sept. 5 at R. L. Potts Gymnasium.
Brielle Williams tallied 12 points to pace the Lady Pilots in scoring and added four kills, two blocks, and two digs, while Annie Turner added eight points, including two service aces, 16 assists, and two blocks. Hannah Jones had a team-high 17 digs, while adding seven points and three aces.
In addition, Jensen Caretti and Leslie Young blasted eight and five kills, respectively, with Caretti knocking back two at the net. Both Marshall and Mackenzie Wade netted four digs.
Shenandoah remained perfect during the season after holding off a much-improved River Pilot squad in three straight sets, 25-17, 25-18, and 25-12 Sept. 6 in Zep country.
Although no point totals were available, the Pilots’ Turner contributed 15 assists and 10 digs, while Caretti added 10 kills and one block. Marshall scored with two service aces and added seven digs, while Wade made seven digs of her own.
In addition, Young added a block and smacked five kills, while Williams added three kills and a block.
The Lady Pilots ran into a buzz-saw Sept. 10 at Skyvue School, losing in straight sets 18-25, 14-25, and 17-25 to Monroe Central. Jones had 29 digs for the Lady Pilots, while Turner made 15 assists to pace the River attack. Caretti, added six kills and made five blocks, while Young netted five kills and Williams blasted three kills and made three blocks.
The Lady Pilots will next face the Lady Blue Eagles at Magnolia Sept. 13 with the match to start at 6 p.m.
