Lady ‘Cats Taking Names

Paden City’s Taylor Cosper tallied 29 points to lead the Lady Wildcats to 25-7 and 30-28 victories over Bishop Donahue in the first game of a volleyball tri-match at McMechen Sept. 4. Cosper smacked three service aces and made six digs
Lynnsie Parsons tallied nine points, while blasting a game-high nine kills and contributing four digs. Myah Charkawi netted eight points that included an ace and added three kills and eight digs. Logan Cosper followed with four points and delivered 25 assists on 66 sets. Josie Fox scored three points and added three digs, while blasting a kill.
Other Lady ‘Cats denting the score card included Graeson Baker with two points, one kill, and seven digs. Haley Hizer added nine kills, while Megan Pierce was credited with two kills and one dig.

In the second match, Paden City defeated Shadyside 25-12 and 25-5, with Parsons leading the way with 16 points that included six service aces. She also hammered eight kills and four digs. Taylor Parsons followed with 10 points and a pair of digs, while Logan Cosper netted eight points and two service aces. Cosper also made 22 assists on 49 sets.

In addition, Baker tallied eight points, two aces, five kills, and made three digs. Charkawi scored seven markers that included two service aces. She also marked up three digs. Hizer and Sydney Blatt each drilled a trio of kills.

The Lady ‘Cats made quick work of Connoton Valley Sept. 5, winning in straight sets 25-11 and 25-14 before holding off the Wheeling Central Maroon Knights 21-25, 25-10, and 26-24 in Maroon territory.
In the two matches, Logan Cosper made 127 sets with 33 assists for the Lady ‘Cats. She added 19 points that included an ace. Parsons rocked the Knights with 29 points, three aces, 14 digs, and 13 kills. Charkawi tallied 23 points with five service aces, added 22 digs, and six kills.
In addition, Fox netted 15 points, one ace, and had nine digs, while the combination of Hizer and Pierce killed 24 shots and were credited with two digs. Baker netted 12 points, 18 digs, and five kills, while Taylor Parsons torched the nets with 24 points that included an ace. She also had nine digs.

Good things must come to an end, as Paden City fell from the ranks of the unbeatens with a hard-fought four-set defeat from Beallsville Sept. 6 in Blue Devil territory.
Taylor Cosper paced Paden City with 17 points and made nine digs, while teammates Charkawi and Parsons each tallied 14 points for the ‘Cats. Charkawi added 21 digs and made five kills, while Parsons added 15 kills, eight digs, and scored a trio of service aces.
In addition, Fox netted 11 points and made seven digs, while Baker tallied six points, three kills, and made eight digs. Hizer and Pierce smacked seven and six kills, respectively.

Paden City picked up where it left off before dropping its only loss of the season to Beallsville, posting a 25-19, 25-14, and 26-24 victory over the Bridgeport Bulldogs Sept. 10 inside Bob Burton Gymnasium.
Parsons tallied 17 points and blasted 10 kills, while making seven digs, to lead the Lady Wildcats. The Sisters Cosper shared 40 points, with Logan adding 93 sets and 34 assists, while Taylor bumped up eight digs.
In addition, Charkawi added 11 points that included an ace, while knocking down nine kills and making 10 digs. Baker joined the fun, earning 10 points, while making 12 digs. Fox tallied eight points and four digs, while the combination of Hizer and Pierce made 14 kills.
Paden City will host Tyler Consolidated and St. Marys in a tri-match tonight at Bob Burton Gymnasium beginning at 6 p.m.
