Lady Eagles Booters Drop 1-0 Match To Tyler

The Magnolia Lady Eagle Soccer Team lost 1-0 to Tyler Consolidated, but you couldn’t tell that by coaches Stacy Hooper and Carla Wade.
“For our first game of the season, I thought our girls played very well,” said Hooper. Wade added, “We played inspired soccer and they responded the way we hoped they would when the whistle sounded to start the match.”
For most of the first half, the game was played mostly on the Magnolia side of the field, where goal keeper Brianna “Lion” Young made four saves to keep the Knights off the scoreboard.
Tyler’s Kayla Snyder bounced a ball off Young’s chest and into the goal for the only score in the bgame.
In the second half, the Lady Eagles’ spirited play didn’t get them a goal, but it did give them an opportunity to score. And they may have, if it wasn’t for an offsides call late in the game that would have tied the game.

For the Eagles, Young blocked six Tyler shots, while the Lady Knights’ Sophie Kinnard retired six herself.
