Blue Eagle Golfers Swing Into Action

With 19 players out on the golf team, Magnolia has done quite well so far this season. They finished 19th in a field of 28 in the Stonewall Jackson Resort Challenge, while beating Barnesville, Beallsville, Bishop Donahue, and Bellaire in a kickoff tournament at Riverside Aug. 10. Garrett Emch was the team medalist with a 72 in an 18-hole meet.

Buckeye Trail got the best of the Eagles on Aug. 13, but the Eagles beat out Bridgeport and Monroe Central. Emch led the way with a 46 score.

On Aug. 14 the Eagles defeated River, Buckeye Trail, and Bishop Donahue, as Emch, Jake Brill, and Brandon Fluharty each sank a birdie. Jason Miller paced the Pilots with a 41.

Magnolia defeated Monroe Central, Beallsville, and Bishop Donahue on Aug. 15; and defeated Bridgeport, Buckeye Trail, and Bishop Donahue the next night. Emch led the way for the Blue Eagles with a 39 and 35 respectively, including sinking a couple birdies.

Buckeye Trail sank the Eagles Aug. 20, but the Eagles bested Monroe Central and Bishop Donahue.

On Aug. 22, they beat Tyler, Bishop, and Paden City. Emch paced the Eagles with a 37, while Kyle Postlewait led the young Wildcats with a 51.

The Eagles have 19 players on the roster, including seniors Garrett Emch, Brett Brill, Brandon Fluharty, Sam Brookover, and Chandler Sapp; juniors, Brantley Hissom, Jacob Starkey, Zach Wilhoite, and Logan Massey; sophomores, Zack Lockhart, Thomas Emch, and Clemens; freshmen, Matthew Durig, Chase Miller, Derek Blaine, Archie Petin, Shane Mason, Jarrett Dulaney, and Darren Ingold.
