Big Blue Loses Last Regular Season Game

By Staff | Feb 29, 2012

Mark Winters and Hunter Campbell each recorded double-doubles for the Magnolia Blue Eagles, but it wasn’t enough to prevent the Brooke Bruins from ending their regular season with a 67-56 upset victory Feb. 24 at Brooke High School.

The Bruins led 13-12 after the first period, but Magnolia outscored their hosts 13-11 in the second period for a one-point advantage at the half. Magnolia extended its lead to 46-39 after three periods of play before the Bruins closed the game out on an 18-10 run to gain the nod.

Winters paced the Eagles with 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, while Campbell netted 12 points and hauled in 10 rebounds to pace the Eagles. Tyler Myers came off the bench to bury a pair of bonus bombs.

In addition, Jayson Keller nailed a basket from beyond the arc, a deuce, and a charity toss, while Stephen Rogalski tossed a triple and a twoball. Nick Blatt finished all the Blue Eagle scoring with a pair of two-point baskets.

The Eagles played Tyler Consolidated Tuesday in the opener of the Region One Sectional. They won that round and will host the winner of Oak Glen and Weir on Friday at 7 p.m.
