Eagles Scalp Seminoles
Mark Winters was on fire Jan. 31 at Skyvue, draining 33 points, including one bucket from beyond the arc, to help pace Magnolia to a 77-51 victory over the Monroe Central Seminoles.
Magnolia doubled up the ‘Noles 16-8 in the opening period before the hosts outscored Magnolia by three in the second frame to close the gap to 33-28 at the break.
Magnolia wasted little time in reclaiming its large advantage with a 44-23 second half run to gain the season sweep.
Stephen Rogalski followed Winters with 10 points that included a pair of long bombs, while Jayson Keller and Nick Blatt teamed for 16 markers. Zach Wilhoite provided five points for the 15-2 Eagles, while Drew Keller and Tanner Hanna each punched one in from three point range. Hunter Campbell tallied a deuce and a free throw, while Tyler Myers and Mike Winters each netted a two pointer.
