‘Jacks Drop Three Games
Valley 39, Clay-Battelle 70
Valley lost a pair of games this week, losing 70-39 to Clay-Battelle in the opener of the Hometown Invitational Tournament (HIT) Jan. 27 in Blacksville and then to Cameron in a regular season game 83-60 Jan. 26 in Cameron.
The ‘Jacks played right with the Cee-Bees for most of the game, but a 17-3 fourth quarter run by Clay-Battelle was just too much for Valley.
Brady Nolan knocked down three baskets from beyond the arc to lead Valley, while Tristen Kocher added seven markers. Hunter Ring tallied six points, while Drew Wade and Clay Ueltschy each contributed five points. Jack Wells dropped in a pair of deuces.
Valley 40, Beallsville 72
The Valley Lumberjacks fell behind to the Beallsville Blue Devils, 26-8, after one period and couldn’t recover, losing 72-40, Jan. 24 in Beallsville.
Clay Ueltschy paced the visiting Lumberjacks with 10 points, while Jordan Anderson, Dylan Edgell, Hunter Ring, Tristen Kocher, and Drew Wade followed with four tallies each. Tyler Hayes, Troy Hubbard, Brady Nolan, Jack Wells, and Ryan Lemley each netted a deuce.
Valley 60, Cameron 83
Against Cameron, the Dragons used a 48-22 run in the first half en route to a 83-60 pounding against Valley.
Ring answered the bell with a team-high 20 points that included a pair of three-point baskets, while Ueltschy contributed 16 markers and Wells 11 points.
In addition, Kocher netted six points; Tyler Hayes, three points; and Wade a deuce.
The ‘Jacks will visit Cameron Friday in Dragon Territory in the second round of the HIT Tournament.
