Tyler Consolidated 75, Paden City 44

The Lady Wildcats’ Logan Cosper sank five baskets from beyond the arc, but the Tyler Consolidated Lady Knights broke open a close game in the second half to beat Paden City, 75-44, in Bob Burton Gymnasium Jan. 17.

The Lady ‘Cats were down a dozen markers at one point of the first half, when they tallied bucket after bucket that springboarded them into the lead late in the first half. But, the Lady Knights took advantage of some shaky Wildcat ball handling and put up basket after basket themselves to head into the locker room with a 37-26 lead.

The Wildcats scored only five points in the third period, while their guests tallied 36 second-half points to gain the nod. Tyler’s Sophie Kinnard scored 21 points, pulled down 16 rebounds, and dished out four assists to lead the Knights, while Torre Cline, with 17 points, also had five steals. Allison Wable added 15 points, while Sydney Reed was credited with 14 points, seven assists, and five steals.

For the Paden City Wildcats, it was Cosper leading the charge with 17 points, including five triples, while Hannah Stanley netted nine markers. Dominique Craft pulled down 10 rebounds and scored eight points, while Amanda Heasley sank seven markers. Lynah Stanley scored a deuce, while Lynnsie Parsons contributed a charity toss.

Paden City 40, Wood County Christian 45

The Paden City Lady Wildcats outscored their hosts, 25-16, in the second half, and senior Dominique Craft returned to form, scoring 11 points and grabbing 12 rebounds for a double-double. But, it wasn’t enough, as Wood County Christian picked up its first victory of the season with a 45-40 win over the disappointed Lady Wildcats of Paden City, Jan. 17.

Wood County raced out to a quick 14-6 run and extended its lead to 29-14 at the break. However, Wildcat Head Coach Kelly Sine gave his lady cagers a tongue lashing, and they responded with their best second half performance of the season.

Logan Cosper followed Craft’s performance with three second-half triples, while freshman Hannah Stanley continued to showcase her skills with eight markers. Lynnsie Parson connected on a pair of deuces and a free throw, while Amanda Heasley tallied five markers and pulled down 10 rebounds for all the Wildcat scoring.

After a rematch with Bishop Donahue on Jan. 24, the Lady Wildcats will host Ohio East Richland Jan. 27 at 7 p.m.
