Pilots Beat ‘Dogs And Tame Tigers

By Staff | Jan 18, 2012

The River Pilots used a 22-8 run to start the second half and held on to defeat the Bridgeport Bulldogs, 60-54 Jan. 10 in Bridgeport.

The game started off slowly and there wasn’t much offense in the first half by the Pilots, who were down 29-24 by the end of the first half. But, once the Pilots implemented the full court pressure in the second half, they would benefit from sloppy Bulldog ball handling, and would come up with steal after steal to convert into easy buckets.

Brett Price led a quartet of double digit Pilot scorers with 21 points, including three baskets from beyond the arc. He was followed by big man Jordan Indermuhle with 15 markers, while Kameron Brown and Cody Caldwell each tallied 10 points.

The River Pilots pushed their season record to 9-3 after pasting the Shadyside Tigers, 64-42 at R. L. Potts Gymnasium Friday, Jan. 13.

The Pilots jumped out to a quick 10-0 lead before settling for a 15-8 lead after one period of play, which they extended to 36-18 at the break.

Marconi was on fire, tallyinh a game-high of four three pointers, en route to a 20-point night to pace the Pilots. Indermuhle, one-half of River’s Twin Towers, pulled down a game-high 16 rebounds and netted 14 markers, while the other half of the Twin Towers, Evan Eggleston, tallied 12 points and grabbed nine boards.

In addition, Price tallied eight points; Brown, four points; and Eric Dierkes dropped in a deuce.
