‘Soar for the Cure’ Basketball Benefit Game Scheduled At NMS
The third “Soar for the Cure” NMS 7-8 Girls’ Benefit Basketball game will be held at NMS on Monday, Jan. 16, at 6 p.m.
The NMS Girls’ seventh and eighth grade basketball teams will play the Lady River Pilots 7th and 8th grade girls’ teams. The game will benefit the Lee Ann Foundation, which lends financial aid to victims of breast cancer in the Tyler, Wetzel, Marshall, Ohio, and Belmont counties areas.
The foundation was established in memory of Lee Ann Schambach, a long time teacher at NMS, by her family following Lee Ann’s death from breast cancer in 2009. In the past two years, through the “Soar for the Cure” Basketball game, the NMS girls’ basketball teams have raised more $3,000 to help victims of breast cancer in our local area.
The basketball game will feature t-shirt sales, a bake sale, raffles, a hoop shoot, and sales of memorial bricks for the NMS Memorial Brick Garden in front of the K-1 Building.
Fans are encouraged to wear pink when they come out to support the event. For more information, call Head Coach Brian Croasmun at NMS, 304-455-2291.
