Hornets Hold ‘Cats To One Field Goal In Victory
The Hundred Lady Hornets made it two in a row, winning over the Paden City Wildcats Dec. 6 in Hundred as Katie Tennant tallied the first triple double of the season with a team-high 12 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 blocked shots.
She added four assists in leading the up-start Lady Hornets to a convincing 40-26 victory.
Paden City’s Dominique Craft nailed three first-quarter triples to keep the ‘Cats close.
But the Hornet defense, led by Mercedes Goff and Elaire Topp, kept her from canning anymore the rest of the way.
Despite making only one perimeter shot the whole game, Paden City was down only three points at the break. They even had the lead a few times before the Lady Hornet defense held Paden City in check the rest of the way. Lady Wildcats were limited to six points in the second half, while Hundred netted 17.
In addition to Tennant’s points, Shayna Tedrow tacked on nine markers; Haley Hayes, seven points; Cheyenne Myers had four points; while Topp, Goff, Lindsay Jones, and Emily Ebert each netted two points.
Tedrow also hauled in 14 rebounds, while Myers grabbed 10 rebounds and Ebert brought in six boards.
After knocking down three first-quarter triples, Craft added three free throws for a total of 12 points to pace the winless Lady Wildcats. Lynnsie Parsons added a pair of baskets from beyond the arch, while Logan Cosper netted a threeball.
Amanda Heasley made Paden City’s only two pointer and sank a pair of freebies for four points to conclude all the Lady ‘Cat scoring.
“I don’t know what to think right now,” said a dejected PCHS Head Coach Kelly Sine. “We never gave up and our girls fought and battled the whole game.
“Right now we can’t hit a side of a barn if we are in front of it, but I know we are getting better. I believe we will turn this thing around after the Christmas break.”
The Lady Wildcats had a game with the Cameron Lady Dragons on Tuesday, but results were unavailable at press time.
