Many Turnout For Alzheimer’s Walk To Remember
The New Martinsville Parks and Recreation Commission sponsored “A Walk to Remember” Nov. 26 at 6:30 p.m. The walk was held on the bike path on Howard Jeffers Drive, beginning and ending at the shelter located north of the hydro-electric plant.
The purpose of this walk is to raise awareness about those afflicted by Alzheimer’s and the disease’s effect on patient families. All proceeds from the walk went into an account for the construction of a memorial garden to be located in one of the city parks.
The event was a huge success, with approximately 70 walkers participating. Those who wish to contribute to the cause should call the parks and recreation department at 304-455-9130.
