Season Ends For MHS Soccer Teams
The Magnolia boys and girls soccer team completed its high school season with losses in their sectionals by the same 4-1 score.
The Lady Eagles lone score against Tyler Consolidated came off the foot of Jennifer Yost, while goal keeper Briana Young and Dallas Mullett combined to swat away 20 Silver Knight shots.
The girls team only had 12 players on their roster, including seniors Jennifer Emch, Dallas Mullett, Kayla Robinson, Cassidy Wells and exchange student Stefanie Tille. The Lady Eagles will return juniors Hannah Glow, Margaret Smith, and Destiny Yoho, sophomore Stephanie Mullett and freshmen, Shannon Hoskins, Allison Ritz and Briana Young.
Dallas Mullet paced the Lady Eagles with seven goals and three assists on the season, while Tille followed with three goals and four assists.
Robinson was a rock at midfield where she roamed the field from end-line-to-end-line and had the duties of holding down their opponents best offensive player. She also had a goal this season along with Stephanie Mullett and Destiny Yoho. Emch played wing and was a strong player on offense. On defense, the Lady Eagles will lose stopper/sweeper Wells who was just as good as you can be in her first season of organize soccer.
The Eagles were coached by Kandi Loy-Kay throughout the regular season and by Mark “That-A-Boy” Blair during the last week of the season and the sectional finale against Tyler Consolidated.
For the boys, Head Coach Brian Croasmun had some up and downs, but was right there giving his all. His players felt the desire and played good soccer throughout the season.
Magnolia will lose seniors Chase Croasmun, Andrew Stackpole, James Long, Michael Jones, Mitchell Goodwin, Evan Heslep and Joey Culley to graduation, but will return juniors, Kyle Lancaster, Trevor Long, Mikal Rabel, Alex Pancake, Eric Piekarski, and Mike Winters. They didn’t have a sophomore, but had freshmen Soren Shade, Frankie Grilli, Oscar Celedon and Jacob Pancake to keep the tradition of boys soccer alive and well for years to come.
